The Women Journalists Association of The Gambia (WoJAG), concluded a two-day training for 30 registered members at TANGO. The training aims to build the capacities of participants on women and children reporting.
At the opening on Wednesday, 22nd June 2022, Programs Officer at the Gambia Press Union (GPU) Mr Jebal Ceesay highlighted the importance of partnering with WoJAG in such training so that women Journalists report on the issues that are affecting women the most.
GPU Vice President Ms Isatou Keita called on all women Journalists to make the best use of the training in their respective media houses. She urged them to be mindful of the codes of ethics governing journalists, especially when reporting on women and children issues.
Falou Sowe the Executive Director at the Network against Gender-Based Violence stressed the need for reporting on women and children as mostly they are vulnerable. He also delivered a lecture on what constitutes sexual harassment and its forms.
WOJAG President, Annette Camara urged her colleagues not to always report on the bad side of women and children but to also publish positive stories on women and children. She used the opportunity to officially open the first WOJAG training. She urged participants to learn and execute their work professionally.
