The Gambia’s National Assembly has issued a press release confirming an extraordinary session will be held in the 2023 Legislative Year starting tomorrow 1st to 2nd November 2023. A Gambia Parliamentary Newsletter publication over the weekend highlighted that at least five Bills were to be tabled by the Ministry for Justice, however, the press release from Parliament confirms that only four Bills will be tabled.

EXTRA-ORDINARY SESSION IN THE 2023 LEGISLATIVE YEAR
1st – 2nd NOVEMBER, 2023
The Office of the Clerk of the National Assembly wishes to inform the general public that the National Assembly will convene an Extra-Ordinary Session in [the] 2023 Legislative Year scheduled for Wednesday 1st to Thursday 2nd November 2023 to consider the under-mentioned important urgent matter of State:
i. The Victims Reparations Bill, 2023;
ii. The Ban from Public Office (TRRC) Bill, 2023;
iii. The Commission of Inquiry (Amendment) Bill, 2023; and
v. The Former Presidents Bill, 2023.
The Hon. Attorney General and Minister for Justice will table the aforesaid businesses for consideration of the Assembly.
The sittings commence at 10:00 am daily. The public is reminded to comply with the standard dress code (traditional or suit) required and also to observe the silence rule during the proceedings of the Session.
