Hit-making Gambian rapping sensation Hussain Dada believes that music has always been a career he wanted to pursue from day one. Unlike other artists who just found themselves in the music industry, Hussain says it has always been his dream to be an artist.
The trendsetting self-named Sukuta Boyo says he started performing when he was in high school although his parents didn’t want him to do music “I came from a family who didn’t see music as a career so it was tough” he said.
Dada said because of this he took a three years break from making music but when he started again in 2016 to 2017 it was for good.
Our reporter asked the rising star what convinced him to stop spraying money on stage while performing: in his defence, he says he “didn’t know better and [he] was young but I won’t try that in this economy”.
Hussain Ceesay popularly known by his stage name Hussain Dada is a Gambian artist who started rapping in 2016 when he released his first song titled Burger ft Mass Murder. His first hit song was Rudeboy a diss track released in 2018, this song put him on the radar of most Gambian music enthusiasts.
Ever since he has consistently released chart-topping tracks in the Gambian music industry, dominating the airwaves and performing at high-profile venues. His most recent song titled “Dada Nga Yab” has racked up a hundred thousand views within 24 hours.
Hussain went on to say that the music industry in The Gambia is lagging behind compared to other African countries but hopefully in the next five years, things will be different. He added that he also gets support from other artists and he also supports upcoming artists as well.
