Gambian Opposition leaders followed through on their pledged to organize massive political rally this weekend in Serekunda and Brikama. The Saturday rally held at the Buffer zone in Serekunda saw a massive turnout of Gambians to support their opposition leaders. Gambian youths and the elderly all turned up in mass numbers to participate in the political rally. Coalition for Change – The Gambia (CCG), Civil Society Associations Gambia (CSAG), Democratic Union of Gambian Activists (DUGA), and other partners will be launching a new radio program to be broadcast to The Gambia and Senegal beginning Sunday, December 15, 2013. The weekly program, “The New Gambia,” will be aired on FM 98.8 on Sundays from 9:30 pm to 10:00 pm (GMT). The inaugural program will be moderated by Demba Baldeh of Gainako and will feature Dr. Amadou Scattred Janneh, Banka Manneh, Sigga Jagne, and Pa Samba Jow.  Moderation will be alternated to allow participation of other Gambian journalists.

However judging by the actions of politicians especially in certain mature democracies the future definitely looks bleak.  The actions of politicians and public officials in these mature democracies afford us lots of perspectives not only in analyzing our problems but also devising solutions that minimize abuses at the same maximize checks and balances. More importantly to create an informed, involved/engaged and demanding citizens. Democratic governance should endure local partisan politics everywhere but especially USA!
