By Gainako’s Banjul Correspondent Two Clearing agents, Samba Bah of Latrikunda German and his boss were arrested few days ago in Gambia in connection with a container they cleared at the Gambia Ports Authority. The said container is alleged to be carrying drugs and weapons. A source that reached Gainako noted, “I just received the news that Samba Bah and his boss were arrested by the NIA and have since been kept incommunicado. Global union federation the ITF (International Transport Workers’ Federation) has demanded justice following the death in custody this week of Gambian trade union leader Sheriff Dibba. The ITF has challenged President Yahya Jammeh Babili Mansa to take action over the affair, which began earlier this month when Gambian trade unions asked him to lower fuel retail prices in line with the fall in wholesale prices. In response he banned union activities and arrested several union leaders.
