In a statement issued on InterFace Gambia TV, The Gambian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E Mr Francis Blain mentioned that “There is now a general agreement in The Gambia that President Barrow is a good leader and a great President.” The full statement is published below verbatim.
“As high commissioner for The Gambia to the United Kingdom, I am particularly pleased to say that the celebration of the 53rd anniversary of The Gambia’s Independence, happily coincides with the fact that under the able and dynamic leadership of his Excellency President Adama Barrow, Democracy, good governance, rule of law, respect for human rights and the Independence of the judiciary and other rule of law institutions have been fully and effectively restored in The Gambia.
There is a level playing field for all political parties and all political parties have easy access to the state broadcaster and freely express their views on radio and television. The relations between The Gambia and Senegal have been significantly improved and strengthened, unlike the fragile and confrontational situation which existed during the previous regime.
I should also mention that the independence of the Electoral Commission has also been fully restored. On a country-wide basis, peace and reconciliation are being effectively promoted. There is now a general agreement in The Gambia that President Barrow is a good leader and a great President.”
