The CEO and founder of Nesthet Clinical Services, Mr Lamin Jafuneh “is launching a 3 months rapid screening and Sensitization campaign to inform, empower and engage the Gambian communities in the fight against the Corona Virus Pandemic (Covid – 19)”. According to Mr Jafuneh, they are a healthcare solution provider that provides healthcare solutions to “the elderly, chronically ill and the civil servants”. According to Lamin, his business will be providing “healthcare needs at the comfort and privacy of your home during this crisis period”.
It dawned on me that his staff could be at risk of contracting and transmitting the virus if they come in contact with the infection. This prompted my question on the measures taken to protect his staff. In response, he explained that his business provides for “gloves, hand sanitizers and face mask for each staff” however they “only use a face mask when” they notice a patient manifest symptoms.
In providing further clarification Lamin emphasised that their services are not a replacement for a Covid 19 Test Kit. According to Mr Jafuneh, “the screening is not the actual testing for coronavirus but it includes taking the temperature, blood pressure and blood sugar, ask about travel history and close contact with a suspected or confirmed case for all the people we come into contact with. This will help us to identify those at risk and facilitate the next steps for those at risk.”
According to the health entrepreneur they “have the contacts of the response standby teams in each of the hospitals and the direct numbers of the national response team in case they come across any suspected case”. They are not stopping there either Nesthet have commenced a media sensitisation campaign and a door to door campaign to sensitise the Gambian populace.
