Minor Cabinet Reshuffle; Secretary General Fadera Redeployed to the Foreign Service

Barely two months after the unceremonious sacking of populist Interior Minister, Mai Ahmad Fatty, who was replaced by little known Habib Saihou Drammeh, the president has replaced Drammeh with Ebrima Mballow as the new minister of the Interior.
According to a press release from the office of the president, Habib Drammeh has been redeployed to the office of the president as secretary general and head of the civil service.  Meanwhile Dawda Fadera, who was the last person to occupy the position has now been moved to Washington as Gambia’s ambassador. In a similar vein, Bakary Sanyang has been appointed as the new Governor of Western Region to replace Mr. Mballow. Below is the full press statement release by the Office of the President:

State House, Banjul, 8th January 2018 – His Excellency, Mr Adama Barrow, President of the Republic of The Gambia, has with effect from today, 8th January made the following re-deployment.

Mr Dawda D.Fadera, Secretary General and Head of Civil Service has been re-deployed to the Foreign Service and appointed as Ambassador of the Republic of The Gambia to Washington, the United State of America.

In the similar vein, Honourable Habib Saihou Drammeh has also been re-deployed to the Office of the President and appointed Secretary General and Head of the Civil Service, while Mr Ebrima Mballow has been appointed Minister of Interior.   In the meantime Mr Bakary Sanyang has been appointed as Governor, Western region to replace Mr. Mballow. END
