Gambian striker Yusupha Njie scored a wonderful goal during his Portuguese side, Boavista FC 3-0 home win over Pacos Ferreira in the week-two fixtures of the Portuguese Primeira Liga played at the Estadio do Bessa on Monday.
Yusupha Njie is the son of the famous Gambian Footballer Alhaji Momodo Njie famously known as Biri Biri who passed away in 2020. Biri Biri is arguably the Gambia’s most legendary player who played for Sevilla scoring 32 goals in 99 matches sealing his name in the heart of the Sevilla faithful.
Now his son Yusupha is showing signs that he also inherited his father’s insatiable goal-scoring appetite. The 27-year-old made a quick return pass and finished with ease in the 19th minute of the game for the Panthers (Boavista) after a pinpoint assist from Kenji Joel Gorre.
Javi Garcia and Jeriel De Santis also added their names to the score-sheet for the Porto-based club in the 61st and 76th minutes respectively, while Pacos Ferreira failed to put a goal past Boavista during the 90-minute league match.
This is the Gambian international’s first goal of the season with Boavista having played only two games, picking up their first three points after their first league game which ended in a three-nil defeat to Gil Vicente.
Boavista now sits in the top half of the Portuguese Premier league table in 8th, just below Braga and above Portimonense.
