National Assembly members will be holding public hearings at Jarra Soma (the centre of Mansakonko) and Brikama Ba tomorrow 28th April 2021 focusing on the Elections Bill 2021. The tour which started today 27th April 2021 is expected to be concluded on Friday 30th 2021.
There are currently two teams of National Assembly members from the joint committee of the Regional Government and Lands, Ombudsman and IEC and Human Rights and Constitutional Matters touring the country on this sensitisation tour focusing on the Elections Bill 2021.
The North Bank team of National Assembly members is chaired by Hon Suwaibou Touray. Meanwhile, the South Bank team which I am part of is chaired by Hon Amul Nyassi. The South Bank Team departed the National Assembly grounds at around 13:00hrs and arrived at Jarra Soma (Mansakonko Area Council HQ) at 16:00hrs.
Upon arrival, a meeting was held where the team was briefed that since the team arrived late at Jarra Soma, the public which had gathered at Mansakonko Area Council Hq had dispersed.
Speaking to one National Assembly member who arrived earlier than our vehicle I was informed that they met some of the people at the venue, however, they left around 4 pm after waiting since morning.
It was then agreed to reschedule the meeting tomorrow for a public hearing at Jarra Soma (Mansakonko Area Council Hq) from 9 am to 11 am.
After the meeting, the South Bank team will then move to Brikama Ba for another public hearing from 13:00hrs. So if you’re in Jarra Soma or Brikama Ba come out and meet your National Assembly members at the public hearing tomorrow, 28th April 2021.
