Brufut marathon run in partnership with Truth Reconciliation Reparation Commission (TRRC) will like to inform the government of the Gambia through the Ministry of Youths & Sports, National Sports Council, Gambia National Olympic Committee, Gambia Athletics Association, our valuable sponsors, our valuable athletes, our valuable volunteers, marathon lovers and the general public that its silver Jubilee marathon run will be held on Saturday 13th April 2019 at Brufut Lower Basic School. The theme for this year is Justice and Reconciliation.
The 25th Edition of the Brufut Run will be used in ensuring that the commemoration of the April 10th and 11th is given a wider coverage and to promote the “Never Again Campaign” of TRRC.
Building on the increasing success from the previous years we are pleased to inform you that, this year we have three major races, the 21km will be organized, together with a 10km race and 2km ChildrenRace. Besides being one of few major regular sporting events in the country, regularly producing athletes of high international standing, the Brufut Run has always prided itself of its social dimension by giving back to the most vulnerable, in education and health care.
Mode of registration is as follows:
- Gambian (Individual 21km and 10km) – D200.00
- Children Race 2km – D50.00
- Schools (one to ten Students) – D500.00
- Tourist and Expatriates – D400.00
- Institutions (one to ten people) – D2,000.00
The starting point of the 21km is now in Jambanjelly at the NAWEC Transformer on the new Sukuta-Jambanjelly not far from the Roundabout in Jambanjelly.
The other starting points remains the same Palma Rima Junction and Brufut Gamtel for 10km and 2km respectively. All races end at Brufut Lower Basic School.
Institutions and schools that participated as a group will be certificated in addition to the individual certificates to be awarded to all participants.

The race is for only medically fit people, therefore, BMR will not be responsible for any incident caused by an athlete’s medical condition. Any athlete with medical issues should seek medical clearance before participating.
