WRONG PROBLEMS! WRONG SOLUTIONS! It’s already a long struggle – 50 years. NCP and other political parties fought against PPP. The goal was not democracy (maybe am wrong, it was about their version of democracy). It would not have made any difference if anyone of those parties won and assume power. Perhaps some cosmetic changes –  ‘A New Sheriff-In-Town’ with his clique. About 20 years ago we had a new sheriff-in-town came – Yahya AJJ Jammeh. It seems his clique changes every 3 months or should I say he recycles the clique every 3 months. Many argued we’ve gotten worst…

Zimbabweans voted in their country’s first national elections this week since the violent and disputed polls in 2008. These elections were an opportunity for Zimbabwe to move forward on a democratic path and provide a foundation for growth and prosperity. DUGA wants to register its profound appreciation to all Gambians who took time to call, fax, email and picket BGR, the lobby group that is being paid a staggering $45,000 per month to decontaminate Yahya Jammeh in the USA.   We claim no easy victories, but the phone blitz and our presence at BGR headquarters forced them to take their phones off the hook and turn a deaf ear to the outrage in the voices of Gambians.  Our collective outrage at the callous collaboration between Yahya Jammeh and BGR, the tyrant enabling lobbyists, is beyond justified.

By Sulayman Jeng Striving to remain pure and pristine like a snow flake in a world sinking in sinful drips is absolutely a herculean task especially if one is gullible. History has recorded different generations which unconscious drifted away from the path leading to eternal bliss to makeshift cities were nothing is neither right nor wrong. Suffice it to say most of those slips are often precipitated by a single act of innocence and goodwill which eventually finds itself transformed into a new form and meaning. This can be better demonstrated by citing a familiar instance at home; “Meet the…

By Mathew K Jallow  The tribal banter deeply rooted in Gambian history and culture arouses empathy, affection and friendship, yet today the familiar ridicule and jeers seem so unreal. In ordinary times, Gambia’s tribal jokes had been the nexus of a unifying force that never seemed disturbed by the turmoil and challenges of daily lives. The inter-tribal jest and foolery, instead, excited the affinity, which characterized the cultural intimacy that belied Gambia’s unique habituation across the tribal divide. This exceptional cultural affability distinguished the Gambia as a country untouched by polarizing tribal bigotry that continues to define much of the…
