(Post Jammeh Era Debate is now – send your ideas) Below is a piece from a concern Gambian on the ground kick starting the debate on the question of post Jammeh Era raised by Burama Jammeh.  In your piece entitled “Post-Yaya Gambia” published in the Gainako online newspaper you raised some very important concern regarding what next for Gambia after Yaya Jammeh Jammeh and need to concentrate our efforts, thoughts and action on planning for such an eventuality and not just concentrate our minds on getting rid of Jammeh by any means necessary and then leavetomorrow to take care of itself.…

We are privileged to lead the nations of a continent on the rise. Africa rests at the centre of global focus as the continent of the future. Although we have been relentlessly exploited in the past, we remain with sufficient resources to invest in a prosperous future. Whilst we have been divided and incited against one another before, we are now united and more peaceful. Even as we grapple with a few regional conflicts, as Africans, we are taking proactive measures to ensure that all our people move together in the journey to prosperity in a peaceful home. Even though…

(Is Jammeh using Momodou Sabally against his own Mandinka tribe?) Gambia has many problems. Thankfully, in the scheme of things, tribalism is not one of them. Gambia’s mere size resulted in calling into question its viability as a sovereign state which almost cost it its political independence. Correspondingly, its economy was also small and lacked a productive base that posed serious challenge to economists as to it economic viability. By way of illustration, when Britain left in February 1965, Gambia’s recurrent budget was less than two million pounds sterling with Britain contributing seven hundred and forty-five thousand pounds or 37%…

A Concern Gambian “We are fine,” says the words of the concern, but what about other families that may not be! Should one have a blind eye approach towards other families that are subjected to arrests, torture, or killings because one is not affected by it financially or family related! Whether one calls these legitimate concerns of family members that fear harm being done to their son, or daughter for standing up against injustice, would be left to you to decide, but would it be morally right?

By Burama Jammeh Talking about it would have more meaning had we had/have plan working on that realization. Such plan would dictate the way and manner Yahya is defeated and broader democratic governance is arranged and decentralized. In the absence of a(the) plan for our struggle, how Yahya falls and who manages that process will largely depend on his successor and not me and you with our wish list.

Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem Assalaamualaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakaatuhu Fellow Gambians, As we join Muslims around the world to observe one of the most important feasts in Islam, the feast of Eid ul Adha, commonly known as Tobaski, it is incumbent upon us to praise and glorify Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala for the many blessings He continues to shower on us and keeping us an Allah-worshipping nation united in peace progress and prosperity. As we advance in our collective journey of socioeconomic development, it is important to reflect on the challenges we have overcome as this will help to strengthen our…

Late Wednesday night, after a 16-day shutdown, the President signed a bill to reopen the government and pay our country’s bills. Today, a government shutdown over delaying or defunding the health care law can no longer hurt our economy. We are no longer facing the threat of default. While this bipartisan compromise is the right thing to do for the country, there are no winners when Washington keeps hijacking our economy month after month. Nobody wins when hundreds of thousands of people don’t know when their next paycheck will come. Nobody wins when millions of veterans and seniors risk losing benefits…

By James Jammeh I feel compelled to write in support of DUGA DC in relation to the Freedom radio interview in which the three DUGA activists narrated their court case. Sohna Sallah very eloquently explained the outcome of the criminal case in which they were involved. Pa Samba Jow and Ousainou Mbenga further elaborated on the planning and execution. I felt frustrated by Mr Mbai’s style of questioning which seemed to me to miss the crucial point. It is for this reason that I want to make a contribution as a bystander.
