Re: The Lawyer Politicians and the Constitution Dear Musa Camara As in your article dealing with the illegal appointment, and continuance in office, of Dr Amadou Scattred Janneh, as a Secretary of State, you are again on terra firma in contending that the GMC leader, Mai Fatty (Mai), was constitutionally barred from contesting the Presidency in 2011. Should His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Doctor Yahya A J J Jammeh (the Professor) take us to election 2016, Mai’s constitutional fate would remain the same as far as his legal ability to contest the presidency. To the extent your argument is…

By: Kaba Sallah (Opinion) Hamat Bah of the NRP must be suffering from either Stockholm Syndrome or he simply cannot bear the recent successes and preemptive moves by the opposition, following a successful rally against the brutal Dictator Jammeh. After mustering some courage to come for what was supposed to be a Press Conference, Hamat Bah turned his remarks into a full frontal, and scathing attack against what the opposition “failed to achieve in 2013“. This man will not cease to amaze, eh , naa waa oo! Blaming the battered wife for not being cooperative enough to the abusive husband,…

By Sidi Sanneh I know it pains to admit that our economy has been destroyed and our comparative advantage squandered and surrendered to Senegal in the process. But in order to prescribe a well-articulated economic recovery program (yes, one will be needed after Jammeh is done with the mismanagement of the economy), we must be ready to, first, accept that the Gambian economy is in a coma and, second, a regional approach is needed to resuscitate it back to life which cannot take place without the cooperation of Senegal.

By  Musa Camara In touting his party as a bona fide political party in The Gambia, Mr. Mai Fatty of the Gambia Moral Congress (GMC) said in an interview with Freedom Radio that he was the running mate of Mr. Ousainou Darboe of the United Democratic Party in the 2011 Presidential elections. He said the UDP/PPP/GMC alliance contested that election with “Ousainou Darboe as the Presidential Candidate and me as his running mate—the Vice Presidential Candidate.” Unfortunately, neither Mr. Pa Nderry M’bai nor Ms. Fatou Camara challenged Mr. Fatty to provide evidence that he was indeed Mr. Darboe’s running mate…

By Sulayman Shyngle Nyassi/UK If we are told that we are nothing but ordinary human beings, we often see ourselves out of pride and  take it as an offence but what we after all?
