You held me on my first breathe to earth
You kept me safe over the ages of times
You know I would have climbed that mountain
Or better still conquer death to safe your grace.
I remember the sweet days of your reign
When breakfast was ready before the sunrays’ peeping
Lunch was on the table when I get back from school
And dinner well cooked and served before the stars twinkle.
Over the years, I missed your smiles and company
Your white teething laughter that brightened my face
Your special encouragement that mellowed my feelings
Your home school and support that prepared me for life.
It’s another celebration again; you are not around
I would have wished your presence one more time
Not the dreams which see you gone as I wake up from bed
I mean your physical being; your one time standing soul.
As I came to terms that you are gone for ever
I worried about the many rivers to cross
I worried about the night beasts as I walk the forest alone
And I never let go of God’s name and your special blessing.
