Fatou Camara has eluded Dictator Jammeh’s dragnet and is now Free at last!
By: Kaba Sallah
Reports have emerged that The Gambia’s celebrity TV host of the Fatou Show on GRTS, Fatou Camara, has escaped to an unknown location, through Senegal. Fatou Camara hosts a popular TV show, but had served at least twice as Dictator Jammeh’s Press Secretary, but unceremoniously fired on both occasions. Fatou’s popularity and social sophistication is what attracted Jammeh to hire her on both occasions, in order to burnish the Dictators tarnished image. Fatou’s popularity and perceived connections and relationships apparently became a liability when Dictator Jammeh and his secret police suspected her of being the mole who passed damaging and embarrassing information of the inner workings of his Banana Republic and criminal incompetence to the popular Online Freedomnewspaper by Pa Nderry Mbai.
Dictator Jammeh has been lashing out in recent weeks, like a wounded hyena, following the humiliation and de-mystification he suffered in New York City in September 2013, when hundreds of Gambians protested and blockaded him and his entourage from freely moving around the city to enjoy the loot they brought with them from Gambia. The Dictator came to New York on a rare visit to attend the annual UN General Assembly meeting. On his return, Dictator Jammeh made several rash and misguided decisions, including unceremoniously withdrawing The Gambia from the ceremonial Commonwealth organization, openly attacking and condemning his perceived enemies –people of the Mandinka Tribe, and the UDP opposition party. Finally he sent his secret police to arrest and detain Fatou for sveral days without charge. What these decisions have shown is that the Dictator and Butcher of Kanilai feels cornered and wounded, like a hyena. He has the propensity to lash out in his paranoia.
What next for Fatou Camara? Dear Fatou Camara ….,
Fatou, just in case you did not know already, there was overwhelming support and empathy for your safety and well-being, when you got arrested and detained, all over the world. So, if these reports are true that you have eluded the Dictators dragnet and clenched Iron fist, then you are warmly welcome into exile and the diaspora. Fatou Camara, you have a wide and loyal audience that is eager to follow your story and what your next move will be. Clearly, you need time to nurse your bruises as you dashed out across the border for dear life. You need to know that you are now in good company; we in the diaspora do not need, or have time for an explication as to why you worked for Dictator Jammeh. The truth is, addressing you directly now, you are now part and parcel of the struggle, we welcome you. You have the gift of communication and a treasure trove of information and secrets, having worked in the Dictators inner circle. My advice to you is that, lay low and seek some sound advice and guidance as to how you can contribute to the struggle. You may not have planned this outcome, but none of us did, and we are all now in the same boat to free our beloved Gambia from the clutches and fangs of a mad man and a dyeing regime. You have recently witnessed that the rats have started to jump ship even before the ship sinks. You have arrived just in time. You have great potential to reach out and address, directly, the suffering masses in Gambia. The speculation is that you are headed to the South East United States, as your final destination as an asylee. If that is the case, you can establish a TV show, Online to reach the Gambia. You are very tech savvy and effective with the Social Media, including FaceBook, YouTube, and now with Roku, all of these platforms can help project a relentless message. It is going to take some work but you can do it. There are too many Gambians with the skills, in the Diaspora to help in this regard.
Finally, Fatou, congratulations on your Great Escape from the clutches of the Kanilai Burcher, and welcome! The Dictator has succeeded in intimidating the press in The Gambia, but we will make it costly for him to disrupt Internet transmission. Thank you
Sincerely,
Kaba Sallah
