President Jammeh acting under the provision under the constitution has recycled Mrs Tenengba Jaiteh as the Minister of Energy and Petroleum with effect from Monday September 2, 2013 state Media Reports. Press release from the Presidency as usual stated that the President acting under the provisions has effected the appointment of Mrs Jaiteh who was occupying the same portfolio before her sacking by the President some months ago without any reason/s advanced.
Insiders at the Ministry has confirmed that Mrs . Jaiteh has resume her responsibility again saying that we have seen her at the Ministry this morning. The Energy Ministry which is under the Office of the President like many others has been witnessing the sacking of Ministers just like many other departments. The hiring and firing is so frequent that it is becoming clear the incompetence is part of the President who does the appointments without betting anybody. One close source insinuated that all these people cannot be incompetent in their positions. So the buck really stops with the man who does the appointments.
In another related story, the President has appointed Mr. Kenemang Sanneh the former lawmaker for the Basse Constituency as the new Governor in the Provincial URR replacing the longest serving Governor in the Gambia Omar Khan whose services were terminated last week.
According to our ground sources in the URR, the former Parliamentarian whose appointment effects Monday September 2, 2013 has confirmed his appointment to the position as the new administrator of his native region. A senior government official in the region has also confirmed the appointment of Mr. Sanneh.
