On December 18th, 2017, we as citizens of The Gambia in the Diaspora had an informal meeting to find out ways in which we can lend our support to advance the development agenda of the “Coalition government,” under the exemplary leadership of His Excellency. President Adama Barrow. In direct collaboration and partnership with the newly established President Barrow Youth Movement for National Development, and the Office of the First Lady of the Republic of The Gambia, our movement intends to reach out to local communities, individuals, and other organizations and institutions in The Gambia and beyond, as part of our broader engagement in areas of national interest.
We will accomplish these goals by raising funds through citizens’ contribution, organizing fundraising events, and where possible, through direct philanthropy sponsorship. Depending on availability, funding may be sought and provided for one or more projects at any given time. We will primarily focus on providing financial and/or material support to needy students at all levels of the educational ladder, ongoing or proposed community projects, formulate a small loan scheme that could enhance women and youth empowerment through entrepreneurship, vocational training , sponsor Civic Education workshops, support community health centers, and assist individuals and families who are in dire need. However, we wish to make it crystal clear to all and sundry that, for the sole purpose of transparency and proper accounting practice, all funds raised by C16D Support Movement shall be disbursed directly to President Barrow Youth Movement for National Development, or to the Office of the First Lady, depending on the need at the time of disbursement.
Finally, we encourage all organization and institutions, local communities, and individuals who may need our collaboration/partnership, or assistance of any kind to contact us via email—email@example.com. In the interest of unity, peace, and prosperity of our beloved nation and her diverse people, we stand ready to work with all well meaning Gambians at home and in the Diaspora to move The Gambia forward. Our first project as of today is to raise $10,000 (Ten Thousand) or more from June 5, 2018 through September 5th, 2018, to provide financial assistance to at least ten (10) women associations across the country.
