Gambians in New York are planning more demonstrations in New York against President Jammeh and his delegation who are attending the United Nations’ 68th General Assembly. Jammeh has already faced fierce group of Gambian activists who had assembled in front of his hotel on Wednesday and Thursday preventing him and his entourage from going about their normal business. The group though small in number consisted of some of the most active Gambian activists in the Diaspora. They managed to disrupt Jammeh’s schedule and had a direct confrontation with NIA officers and the Secretary General Momodou Sabally.
More Demonstrations are planned for Friday September 27th, under the leadership of the Movement for Democracy and Development headed by Saihou Mballow and others. The goal for this demonstration is to confront President Jammeh face to face when he leaves for the UN General Assembly where he is scheduled to address the Assembly on Friday.
