Breaking News: Has Supreme Islamic Council Leader, Imam Mouhammad Lamin Touray Absconded? Jammeh Issues Presidential Decree to Shutdown Internet!
By Our Roving Reporter
Impeccable sources reaching Gainako indicates that leader of the Supreme Islamic Council (SIC), Imam Mouhammad Lamin Touray, left the Gambia today (November 29th 2016) for Saudi Arabia, details of which are abnormal. It is not clear if he received any personal threats from Jammeh’s unpopular campaign and continued threatening of citizens, out of his own suspicion, and/or both; what is clear is that Touray has left the vicinity of the Gambia out of fear; an impeccable source clearly stated, “Imam Mouhammad Lamin Touray left the country for his safety.”
Many political analysts in fact argued that Jammeh’s bid for 5th term re-election has been very difficult, as such the APRC interparty blame game continues, which created a situation of “mistrust” and “loyalty” issues. As the party kisses off to leadership goodbye due to the Opposition’s stronghold based on seen countrywide receptions, most of Jammeh’s enabling force who understands are on the run helter skelter to avoid the inevitable fate of victimization either from Jammeh or the very people they wronged by aiding and abetting the Jammeh regime.
If it is confirmed true that Imam Touray did really abscond, adds to the long list of Imams that has been targeted by Jammeh’s witch hunt that saw many to forceful and/or self-exile.
In a related incident, Jammeh’s confusion and determination to rig the Presidential elections slated for December 1st 2016, led him to issue a Presidential Decree to shutdown internet services from Thursday December 1st 2016 to Sunday December 4th 2016 in the Gambia, a clear intention to keep Gambians and the international community in the dark, while he rigs the elections and preys on citizens. It is not clear at this point how Gambia’s opposition, the IEC, and the international community will react to this; many Diaspora Gambians expressed concerns across the board on social media; it remains very rife that Jammeh’s main intention is to rig the elections, which is making Gambia’s situation more tensed and charged, than ever before in its history, barely couple of days before the much awakening Presidential elections.
