Breaking News: Coalition Leader, Adama Barrow, Declared Gambia’s President-Elect
By Yero Jallow
Emotional and historic is an understatement; Gambians spoke a clear language. Yaya Jammeh, 22 year old dictatorship and his enabling force, has been defeated by the Coalition’s flag bearer, Adama Barrow, on December 1st 2016 Presidential Elections.
To what many criticized, Mamma Kandeh, of the GDC, ended up being a blessing in disguise, for the coalition. By all standards of measurement analysis, GDC more than likely canvassed on potential votes for the APRC, helping to shape the victory most certainly. Saihou Mballow, Human Rights Activist and Diaspora Supporter for the GDC said “I hereby congratulate president elect Adama Barrow for the elections victory. In any election there must be a winner and a looser however the people are bonded by one thing and that is one country, The Gambia. I call on the Gambians to reconcile all their differences and unite for the interest of the country. Let us not forget but let us forgive about the past for the interest of our future generation. Long Live the Gambia!”
Sanna Sanyang, Civil Rights Activist, Minnesota, said ” It has been a long fight, and I am glad to see it is over with. I thank each and every freedom fighter. I remember those that died, those exiled, and those at home. Thank you my citizens, long live the Gambia.”
Cherno Bah, Civil Rights activist, Minnesota, said “The fight was well fought and the work has begun for a new Gambia. I congratulate each and every fighter and their spouses and children.”
IEC’s Chairman, Alieu Momarr Njie, made history of grace for himself by doing the right thing, helping to arbiter the results to the end, despite wide criticism from Diaspora Gambia. During a somber speech on GRTS, he announced of a new Government, and that Jammeh who have been in the power seat has agreed to concede defeat. Alieu Momarr Njie took the opportunity to congratulate the President-Elect, Adama Barrow.

On behalf of entire Team Gainako, the many comrades in the media, activists, other comrades, and concerned Citizens, I say praise God, thank you, the struggle continues!
“The fight was long, difficult, sometimes; lonely, dispensing and discouraging but men and women of courage and conviction stayed the course and fought to the finish line.” (Demba Baldeh, Host “Face to Face”).
“We made it finally. I am grateful to Allah and thank you to all of you my amazing team in Gainako radio. I love you all.” (Ahmad Gitteh, Host “Al Gha Taa”).
“Nobody seems to have been able to predict the impact of ‘On the Spot Counting’ which seems to have resulted in much later results than previous elections. One thing for sure is that many did not anticipate that the IEC would take over 12 hours to announce the final results.” (Yusef Taylor, Host “Joglen Tahaw”).
“Thank you waa Gambia! All of you stood up when it really mattered and freed your country!!! We owe you a debt of gratitude!! We did it.” (Mamalinguerre Sarr, Host “Good Day Gambia”).
“This day is a momentous occasion for every Gambian, but much more for the father of the nation, Sir Dawda to be alive to witness this day.” (Tijan Massaneh Ceesay, Host “Christian Panarama”).
“It’s has been a long arduous fight, some question our motives, some call us troublemakers but we stayed the course and in the end liberate our people from the clutches of one of Africa’s worst dictators.” (Amadou Jagne, Host “Youths”).
“I am over joy with the outcome of this historic election. It’s indeed a great day for the people of Gambia who suffered immensely under the most brutal regime. We should use this day to think about the victims of jammeh regimes. I will conclude by thanking Gambians both home and abroad for making change.” (Mustapha Manneh, Host “Engaging Gambian Youths”).
Said and done, a whole chapter of state terror has been closed. It is hoped that the new incoming Government under Barrow will unite Gambians, establish pure democracy, rule of law, and establish a truth and reconciliation commission that will arbiter fairly on all the criminal activities committed by this regime.
The Ends; new day has dawned in the Gambia, with fiddles of freedom and liberty!
