‘Burkina Faso crisis: African leaders in army handover talks’ The presidents of Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal are visiting Burkina Faso to press the military for a speedy handover of power to a civilian ruler. The African Union (AU) says the army acted unconstitutionally when it took over after President Blaise Compaore was forced to resign on Friday.The AU on Monday gave the army a two-week deadline. Five young Gambians supposedly APRC Green Boys needlessly lost their lives over the weekend in a tragic automobile accident. The incident involving an ARPC pick up truck loaded with supporters was reportedly traveling at an exuberant speed to join President Jammeh and his entourage up country. The driver of the pick up truck lost controlled of the vehicle in the Central River region near the Sofa Nyama/Pakaliba bridge, which somersaulted several times before killing several passengers. Gambia’s State House Imam turned political propagandist for President Jammeh Imam Abdoulie Fatty has been fired from his political appointment as a State House Imam. The controversial Imam reportedly was fired after making divisive comments about the Amadiyaa Muslim community in the Gambia. Imam Fatty was on record in an interview with the Standard Newspaper calling for the  expulsion of the Amadima Muslim Jamas calling them non Muslims. Two United Nations special rapporteurs will visit The Gambia next week to investigate human rights issues and examine whether the country’s laws are in conformity with international standards. The initial visit of the special rapporteurs on extrajudicial, arbitrary executions; and on torture and other cruel, inhuman treatment, scheduled for August 2014, was annulled one week before the visit by the government, which proposed that the visit be delayed until next year. UAGADOUGOU, Burkina Faso (AP) — An army general took power in Burkina Faso Friday after President Blaise Compaore stepped down, ending his 27 year rule of the West African country. Army Gen. Honore Traore, the joint chief of staff, has assumed power, state radio announced. Compaore was forced out of office by a burst of violent protests in which parliament was set ablaze.
