Sulayman “Saul” Saidykhan  Please indulge me the opportunity to add to the current debate regarding Mr. Trump and his ideas about Muslims because 1. I’m American by choice and 2. am a Muslim. Without going any further, let me state here that what happened in San Bernardino some weeks ago is horrible and sickening especially considering the conscious role of a lactating mother in the crime. How a woman with a six-months old child could do what is being alleged to have been done by the deceased woman in CA is beyond me. But if we are to be…

The Gambia Christian (multi-denominational) Council Our attention, of recent, has been focused disproportionately – and rightly so – on the role played by the Supreme Islamic Council in perpetuating the brutal and corrupt regime in Banjul. Jammeh has become an international embarrassment and a pariah within the comity of Nations. The SIC has been complicit by compromising the Islamic teachings and principles in exchange for worldly possessions in the form of bundles of cash in addition to government-issued and -maintained vehicles to accompany government allowances and spacious offices at the expense of the poor and heavily-taxed Gambian taxpayer. By Baba Galleh Jallow The Donald Trump of Africa, chief executive officer and managing director of Fankele Fanfadi Kunda Enterprises was a famous guy in our little town. He was so famous because he held himself to be the ultimate guru of profound practical wisdom and the repository of knowledge on all subjects under the face of the earth. He boasted particular expertise in the violent science of fighting and the humble art of begging. He was quick to quarrel when anyone doubted his opinion, whether his opinion was well-considered or not. The Donald Trump of Africa did not give…

By Mathew K Jallow Senile octogenarians, youthful maniacs, barbaric psychopaths, and crude nitwits; they all share the same idiosyncrasies: greed, moral decadence, ignorance, cruelty. They dress in leopard skin, popularized a fashion trend, owned lion statues, sat on golden thrones, and carry the Islamic Quran close to their chest. They bear blame for Africa’s lost generations, but left the burden and the agony of poverty on the shoulders of its dispossessed population. They are loathed and reviled. They are the cause of Africa’s unsettling lurch to the dark and dangerous side of politics. Today, sixty years on, their tragic slippage…
