Fellow Gambians, fellow countrymen and women, the Gambia Consultative Council (GCC) is pleading with the Gambian people and political leaders to show their unflinching support for the return of the rule of law in Gambia. The organization expresses it support for the efforts to seek a new path for our beloved country, the Gambia, without Yahya Jammeh. After more than twenty years of brutality and mayhem, the Gambian people deserve to be free once again. This is an opportunity for all Gambians to go out in the streets and demand a change of government.
Fellow Gambians, the world is waiting and watching to see what we can do to end our suffering under a brutal regime that continues to kill and maim our sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters. The time to end the twenty years of misery is now. We are tired of dying. We are tired of running away from our country of birth. We are tired of being the laughing stock of the rest of the world. We call on all Gambian youth, from Kartong to Koina to do what the youth of Burkina Faso did and help their country end twenty years of suffering.
To the gallant men of the Gambian Armed Forces., your country is calling you at its time of great need to do what you swore to do; to defend its territorial integrity and protect its citizens. The interest of the Gambian people supersedes the interest of any one individual. Fellow Gambians, Yahya Jammeh has ruled for twenty years and everyone in the army knows someone in the army who has been killed on the orders of Yahya Jammeh. If he is allowed to return, you can bet very many of you in the military and security services are going to face executions. NO doubt about that. Don’t let that happen again. Don’t let Yahya Jammeh back into the country.
To the government of Senegal; the people of the Gambia wants what Senegal has; liberty and freedom. We also need Senegal to help make that come true. As you may know, most of us have relatives in Senegal all along the one thousand miles Senegambia border. Yahya Jammeh, we understand, was in Chad to try to get Tuareg rebels to fight for his return. We urge the government of Senegal and President Macky Sall to deny them passage through Senegalese territory. There is nothing Gambians want more than restore the good relations enjoyed with Senegal for generations. At this hour of need, Gambians plead with President Mack Sall to send forces to help calm the situation and assist the return to democracy and the rule of law in the Gambia.
Thank you.
