The most pressing problems with which the Project is still confronted have to do with classroom structures, tables, chairs, blackboards, pens, pencils and, above all, money to print our learning materials. The money you have so generously donated will go into providing some of those needs. At the moment, most of the classes are held in the open air for want of classroom structures.
In one village alone, we have over four hundred registered participants. Our target this time is six more villages. You can imagine the enormity of the financial implications of our expansion program in terms recruitment of facilitators, provision of materials as indicated above and the production of post- learning materials.
It is in that regard that we are still looking forward to more philanthropists who would donate to the Project in whatever way they can. Once more, thank you very much for your kind consideration.
Sidia S. Jatta
Coordinator of the Project.

Project background
The Wulli Adult Literacy Development Project, conducted by the Wulli Adult Literacy Development Association (WALDA), was initiated in 1997 by the member of Parliament of the area. The fundamental objective of the Project is to empower women through literacy in order for them to become apt in taking part in the decission making processes regarding the management of the affairs of their communities. The most effective medium through which such an empowerment can be carried out is their own languages.
As regards financing, the Project has, since its inception, been thriving on a Fund established by the initiator of the Project. The Fund was constituted by two thirds of the salary he was receiving as a member of Parliament. In addition to the funds generated by his salary, the Fund was replenished and is still being replenished with moneys he earns through consultancy work.
However, considering the fundamental objective of the Project, which is to replicate it beyond the borders of Wulli to become a national enterprise, and given that the Wulli Fund is inadequate to bring that goal to fruition, the Project is in need of extra-funding to make expansion and replication a possibility. Expansion will require purchase of more furniture such as tables and chairs as well as creating new structures where classes will be conducted. Also, there will be need for the production of learning materials the printing of which is quite expensive.
It is in view of these requirements that the Association has embarked on income generating activities such as horticulture, tie-dye, sheep fattening, to mention only some of the activities, in order to supplement the Fund’s source of income and, more importantly, in view of self-reliance in the long term.
All these activities, and more, are in need of extra-funding. For instance, the horticultural garden has to have a borehole for an all year round production and fencing to protect it from animals. Inputs such as fertilizer and seeds are also required.
Wulli women will be grateful to anybody whose generous donation will help translate their dreams into reality.
It is important to note that the Wulli Fund has a management Committee chaired by Alhaji Jambo Camara whose contacted through Sidia Jatta # (220) 7963196
