“Jammeh Tells Speaker He will send him to Mile II if New Parliament Building is not Maintained” – Guest Exclusive
Watching the celebration of Jammeh’s hijack of our Democracy; one must conclude that Gambia has a very long way to go. Before even going into the very nonsensical speech Jammeh delivered, we can all agree that after twenty years, Jammeh cannot even put together a ceremony. It was one of comic proportion with the caveat of the usual 400 years speech condemning British rule in The Gambia. Wow, after twenty years; Jammeh could not talk about the progress registered in Governance, Human Rights, Press Freedom, the standard of living etc. Twenty years and counting, Jammeh and his so called Vanguards, enter Bala Garba Jahumpa; are still bragging about the three empty hospitals they built in twenty years, the University that has graduated many who can’t still find jobs, the biggest; free education for girls; a mockery and a Jammeh trademark; a Lie, so Demba Ali Jawo is on the money; there is “nothing to celebrate”. If Jammeh was as smart as he claims, He would have just shunned away from this comedy that went on in Banjul. The only thing they got right this time around was having the Mayor of Banjul; Abdoulie Bah speak in wollof avoiding another embarrassment.
President Yahya Jammeh speaking at the opening of the new Parliament building displayed his arrogance and utter disrespect of the 1997 constitution when he told the Speaker of the House, another dummy that He and his members of Parliament will be confined to his Mile Two Prisons hotel if the 27 million dollar building is not well tended to. Again, Jammeh displayed who he really is when he uttered his threat. Like everyone in Gambia who dances to so called Babili Mansa’s music, the message was clear. It is only in Jammeh’s Gambia where the President will tell the Speaker He’ll send him to jail and it sits well. This is what they built and indeed they will reap the fruits of their labor. The office of the President according to Mr Jammeh will be the Inspector General of Maintenance for the building, a building that will only serve Jammeh’s purpose and his stooges at the assembly. Only time will tell before the Speaker joins Lang Tombong at Mile Two because that building like all others built under this criminal regime will rot just like the Gambia Television Services where you will never even find toilet roll in the toilets. That’s Jammeh’s Gambia in twenty years.
We usually go after the Imams in Gambia, but I believe it will also be fair game to talk about the disgraceful Bishop of the Methodist Mission, Caroline Hannah Faal, Chimpanzee robed in red cassock. Listening to her sing praises for a killer made a lot of people sick to their guts. I wonder what her venerable predecessor, the late Ian Roach would be thinking. It was Rev Roach who took on the establishment of Jawara during a legal year ceremony thus leaving an indelible mark as a righteous Man who did not shy away from calling it as he saw it and for a generation to come, Gambians will remember him as a Man who stood up for God. This woman,Faal, lost it from the word go, first she said” the President of the Uni, and Aja Isatou Njie Jammeh”. Was the Venerable Bishop terrified of the fact that her colleague, Imam Cherno Kah was dropped from the program for the visiting scholar; a Man who also defines Extremist and Fundamentalist to the core? After listening to this ugly Chimpanzee of a Bishop we can conclude that this she does not fear God and is also a criminal and thug because those are the best labels that fits anyone who endorses a Monster, a murderer and rapist named Yahya Jammeh. In sum, Bishop Hannah Faal can go to hell and keep praying for Yahya Jammeh and His Government. The cue we take from Bishop Faal blasphemy is the fact that, our Religious leaders in The Gambia have been corrupted either by Turkey meat giveaways or the millions the Terrorist In Chief, Yahya Jammeh doles out to them. Also Venerable Bishop, the word is Babili Mansa not Basili Mansa. After yet another disgraceful outing, Hannah Faal has no moral authority to preach from no pulpit and her congregation needs to boycott her services for she has sent the Methodist Mission to Jammeh’s shrines with her kiss off.
Then we also heard Bala Jahumpa and Malick Jones, two recovering drug addicts and alcoholics par Excellence; and the latter, a monkey a few years removed from Mile Two were at it listing Jammeh’s accomplishments. While they did what they do best, lying to the Gambian people, none of them was close to being bold to mention the illegal arrest of Mambury Njie who was discharged by the Judiciary, a very important arm of Government as Mr Jones pointed out in his rants. Both of them were high on something as usual because no sane person can call Jammeh an Icon. These two buffoons will go down as enemies of history and co-conspirators of Yahya Jammeh. History will judge them!
In sum, the comedian who calls himself a Pan Africanist was throwing the biggest party when West Africans are dying left and right of Ebola. The least Jammeh could have done was not to hold this comedy session punctuated with lies and fabrications. Where is the Pan Africanist in him? Let’s sit back and watch when the Speaker goes to Mile Two for the negligence of the building.
The best outcome of Jammeh’s one week celebration is the historic confrontation of a brave lady name Christina Jatta who is a Christian woman and a graduate in political science from the University of the Gambia. Christina attended Dr. Zaid’s lectures and when she had her turn during a Q&A she confronted the Imam turned hustler from India. Brave Christina’s mission was to attempt to correct the Imam on several assertions he made about the Bible. She wanted to make a comment first and then ask a question. The shocked Imam stood motionless in disbelieve that a woman would confront him in front of a large gathering of Gambians. Christina would not have it and insisted that she be allowed to make her comments and then ask the question. The Imam was rattled and disgraced in front of the crowd. He wouldn’t allow her to freely make her comments without interruption. She had a right to ask the same question that many others were allowed to ask. Why not her, she is a human being and a Gambian? The Imam appeared agitated and threw some false accusations against Christina. “You are lost and you have a sickness”.. She wouldn’t let up and was eventually allowed to go face to face with the Imam and challenged him on the bible. The Imam could only cut her short in visible pain and agony.
Now let’s face it, Christina had a right as a Christian to respond to several days of false allegations on the Bible. If the Imam had preached respect and peace throughout his visit, why couldn’t he allow this young Christian lady to ask her questions? Was the Imam intimidated that a woman could openly confront him after he said “women were only made to reproduce and were not fit to be President” Doesn’t Islam preach tolerance and acceptance? If the Imam was true to his believes why couldn’t he treat Christina the exact way Prophet Muhammad would have handled the situation? Didn’t he show intolerance to Christina? Besides how could the learned Imam say that “If one is not able to convert his or her Christian neighbors both of them will go to hell fire” What an ignorant statement unworthy of coming from a Scholar’s mouth? How many Indians are non-Muslims who are the good Dr.’s Neighbors in India? Are all his preaches about do as I say and not as I do? At the end of the day Christina Jatta is the only person worthy of being President in that Hall. She was the only person who was honest and open about what she truly belief. She stole the show from the good Dr. cum Imam hustler.
On a final and more serious note, Gambia is constitutionally a secular state consisting of many other religions and non-believers. If Jammeh respects the constitutional provisions of the Gambia why should he build a Mosque at the nation’s State House and not build a Church? Can he guarantee that future Presidents will not be Christians or from other religions? If a Christian were to become President should he/she build a Church in the State House? The time has come for Gambian Christians and the Catholic Church to stand up and demand equal treatment in religion. President Jammeh’s blatant discrimination against other religions in favor of Islam cannot and should not be tolerated in Gambia. It is a dangerous precedent to promote one religion as President over others and if not challenged has the potential to incite hate, religious intolerance and violence against other religious minorities. Every good citizen of the Gambia has the moral duty to address this issue before it is too late. Jammeh is hell bend on turning Gambia into an Islamic republic because of his desperation for recognition and economic incentive from the Arabs. Gambia’s Christian Council and other minority religions but take this up head on. Failure to do so will lead to religious hostilities as seen in other parts of the world.
