Former Gambian Army Commander Colonel Samsudeen Sarr has been granted pardon by Gambian President Yahya Jammeh. Mr. Sarr’s pardon took place during a dinner organized for President Jammeh at his Ritz Carlton Hotel in New York where he is lodged for the United Nations 69th General Assembly. Sources with firsthand information about the event confirmed to Gainako that Mr. Sarr did indeed attend an emotional formal ceremony where he apologized profusely to President Jammeh for all his wrongs and in turn President Jammeh swore to the Quran and said he has forgiven Sam for whatever wrongs he has done to him. The two reportedly hugged and embraced each other and Jammeh invited Sam Sarr and his family to feel free and return to the Gambia anytime they want. Mr. Sam reportedly expressed his gratitude to President Jammeh and promise never to go against him again.
Colonel Sarr’s meeting with President Jammeh did not come as a surprise to many Gambians. Mr. Sarr’s recent appearance on freedom radio expressing regret for all his false allegations against President Jammeh was seen as a sign of his willingness to bow down to his former boss who has subjected him to so much humiliation. In fact gainako can reliably further report that Sam’s reconciliation gesture to President Jammeh has been in the works for a very long time. Sam Sarr reportedly has deeper ties with President Jammeh’s family as Jammeh’s brother Ansumana Jammeh’s wife is related to Sam Seedy Sarr’s wife. Samsudeen was reportedly convinced by Gambia’s current Ambassador the lackey Omar Faye along with other close APRC big wigs to take this rather embarrassing move.
Mr. Sarr’s unprecedented reconciliation with President Jammeh yet again teaches the Gambian people a clear lesson that not all that glitters is gold. While Mr. Sarr can regret whatever he has done to Jammeh, he must also admit that he along with Captain Omar Faye have all actively worked to overthrow President Jammeh and his government. Mr. Sarr reportedly went up to Senegal to organize arm struggle against Jammeh. What the Gambian people are witnessing between Jammeh and Sam Sarr is a classic resemblance of the movie “The law abiding citizen” by Gerard Butler and Jamie Fox where a man who lost his child due to murder took retribution to a whole new level.. This film takes betrayal and deception in a painfully obvious manner depicting a 360’ turn of what was happening… Gambians too are witnessing a movie with the highest order of betrayal from two people who swore to protect a nation and its people. Both Jammeh and Sarr owe Gambians an apology for wasting our resources in educating them. Gambians deserve an apology too..
Regardless of what pardon Jammeh and Sarr accord each other, it is crystal clear to every Gambian that these two men are anything but honorable to their oath of office and allegiance to their nation. Both men are classic examples of what is wrong with Africa and African governments. Nothing but Power, greed and self-centeredness is in full display in this movie. Gambians must however come to terms that both President Jammeh and Sam Sarr are tainted with Gambian blood and sweat in their hands. They may look after each other and forgive each other but Gambians will never forget the lives of fourteen innocent students who were massacred in the hands of these people by weapons that Mr. Sarr and others acquired from Libya. Untrustworthy citizens can forgive each other all they want, but Gambians will never forgive or forget the betrayal that has been meted on our citizens.
Like those before him, Sam Sarr too will relive this movie and shall be accountable to his betrayal of the pledge of oath of office that he took before the Gambian People. Majority conscious Gambians have come to terms that President Jammeh is an untrustworthy citizen to deal with. Ask the Likes of Njogu Bah, the late Baba Jobe, Momodou Sabally just to name a few who really Jammeh is. Gambians hope Sarr will take the courage that he so obviously lacks and return to Gambia to work for Yahya Jammeh. History is ever more positioned to adequately record the bitter end of this insincere reunion. God safe the Gambia…
