It is confirmed by Family members that Alhagie Buba Baldeh’s dead body is currently at the border between Gambia and Senegal denied entry for proper burial in his home town of Basse. His body is accompanied by a Senegalese State Minister and two MPs but the family was still denied entry into Gambia. The report indicated that there was communication between the Senegalese Government and Gambian authorities and permission was given for the body to be transported to his love ones for proper burial.
It is indeed incomprehensible that a dead body, a citizen of the Gambia with his God given birth rights could be denied burial in his own country. It is beyond anything Gambia have seen or anywhere in the world. The Gambian people must come to grip with the fact that yahya Jammeh is willing to not only exile us, arrest and kill us but deny us proper burial in our own country.
The Senegalese government must also feel the disrespect and animosity Jammeh has towards Gambians and Senegal. Jammeh has denied Gambians not only the freedom, liberty and dignity while we are alive but even if our citizens are dead. What threat does a dead body has to the state and Yahya Jammeh and his government? It is beyond anything Gambia has ever seen. The denial of families and friends the freedom and liberty and the final resting place is just something beyond human imagination.
The Gambian people must now decide whether our fight is beyond the struggle for power, whether it has moved to a new level for our existence as human beings. Yesterday it was Kukoi Samba Sanyang, today it is Alhagie Bubacarr Baldeh and tomorrow it could be anyone of us. Imagine Gambians are not able to visit home when their parents and love ones passes away and now our parents and love ones cannot return even in their dead cabins for property burial. What Gambians are witnessing is hate for our people by none other than Yahya Jammeh. He hates us alive and dead and have no respect for our religion, our traditions and customs.
May the Almighty – the ultimate judge render judgement between the Gambian people and their government. May the souls of the departed be granted Jannah and may Allah give us the courage to continue the fight. RIP brother Baldeh.
